I guess you're right that an extensive study will not be done, and that it doesn't matter too much. It seems to be generally believed that Snowie does handle backgames better than GNU, but it would be interesting if someone showed it by letting GNU play Snowie in backgames, and put a number on it. Each game should be played twice, once with GNU playing the backgame and once with Snowie playing it. How many more points does Snowie win pr. game?
