Age rating for XG

Bob: My computer gives an age rating for games on my computer which for me are the ones it came with. Xg is "everyone 10+" but all the others such as chess titans and minesweeper are "everyone". Why the difference?

It's just that I picked the level that seemed appropriate from my point of view. The rating was not issued by the ESRB.

Not saying that the average child under 10 cannot use XG, but he/she may need some guidance to get started.
