For me it would depend on the kind of pips we gained. If they came as a slot on the 5 with good builders to complete it after we make our 4 point, or better yet a made 5 point, I'd stay split with equal pips. If they instead came as a blot buried deep in our board, I'd make the anchor. And if whatever our alternative was today left us with a chaotic board full of blots but no points made, I'd make the anchor with even a bigger deficit than we have! So I can't answer a general question here at all
