Gammon minimising bearin play?

Not taking any checkers 8/5 amounts to a bet that we're going to roll a lot of 2's in the near future. And if we roll lots of 2's, we probably won't get off the gammon anyway. My guess is that one or two 8/5's will be best. If we back White up so that our overall gammon-saving chances are better, the 8/5 plays should become less desirable.

OTB I'm confident that I'd play 20/17 13/10(3) without spending much time on it. But that doesn't mean it's right.
