1. This is a slightly weird 5pt holding game. Both sides have weaknesses compared to a "standard" 5pt holding game. White has a blotty board and four checkers back. Blue still has a bar-point anchor to clear and a blot to clean up. Blue can afford to play somewhat loosely this turn because of White's blots, but his position is still rather inflexible. White will prefer not to get hit, of course, because of Blue's three-point board, but if she does hit, she should be able to enter pretty easily, and if she enters on a low point, then that can cause Blue some trouble. I think White should be able to take this. Not so sure about the double. If I'm wrong about the take, which I could be, then not doubling must be a mistake, so by Kit's rule I ought to double as a practical matter. Technically, though, is it a double? I think Blue needs to consolidate a bit more first. ND/T.

2. This is closer to a standard position. It looks like a clear take to me, with White having a decent board and an outfield point as well as an anchor. Does Blue have many market losers? Clearing the midpoint along with covering the blot, I guess. But otherwise, Blue seems to have quite a few awkward rolls: 64 53 52 42 22. If he doesn't clear his midpoint then White should still be able to take. ND/T.

3. The candidates I see are 13/6, 20/14 15/14, and 15/8. Breaking anchor seems premature to me since we're still behind in the race. White's midpoint is stripped so I think I prefer 13/6 to 15/8.
