I like both the 'instinct' concept of bar/24 6/5 8/7(2) and also bar/23 6/4.

bar/24 6/5 8/7(2): White won't be hitting except with a joker. At the score he should be prepared to lose a single game with chances to win later from the anchor, rather than try to go forward by giving up this major asset for little gain and the high risk of a potential disaster. But if I were going to leave a blot in my outfield I would prefer bar/23 6/5 8/7.

bar/23 6/4: As above, pressuring White's 8pt and having him even less likely to hit with 1x leaving two vulnerable targets facing an avalanche.

Not sure which I would play OTB, probably bar/23 6/4. If White's front position doesn't start to reel within the next couple of rolls I would rather have my 4 8 9 than 7 8 9 points. And if it does then my 4pt is even more valuable than the bar.
