This is a very complicated decision to make in backgammon. Many people would instantly play 24/22, but! the problem is that the opponent has a very strong prime you don't want get any extra checkers behind. So making the 4 point is a good option because, you don't want to get anymore checker behind the strong 5 prime. You're a timed enough get one checker out. So if you make your 4 point now, you get a better blitz and more gammons, and if you don't make the point you'll have 3 points open a chance of 75% for the opponent to get in instead of 56%. When you are blitzing in a position, mostly you hit and leave the blot. But now black prime is strong, so you don't really like to leave any blots. So it's better to already make the 4 point and use a 2 later to get in front because there is still a lot of time left to do it. And ofcourse splitting your checkers is best to get max point making equity. But it's not a big error to make in a match, i still think it's very close.
