PR Tournament

I have always believed that the best test of skill between players is a pure form of duplicate backgammon, which is essentially a test where each player is looking at exactly the same positions and selecting their plays and cube action. I agree that this does not test the ability to play the opponent or to the opponent's weaknesses, but neither does a competition where the lowest PR rating wins.

Duplicate Backgammon, or a test, would be a test of skill in deciding on the best play or decision.

Another competition could also be a combined test of both skill and knowledge, with players having to calculate take points, EPC, estimate winning and gammon chances, and percent of error to make the second best play or the wrong cube decision.

This would tell me, better than playing random games and measuring PR ratings, who was really the most skillful and knowledgeable player in the game. And that is a contest I would be very excited to see, as the answers to the problems and the methods used to reach the answers would provide incredible insights.
