This problem is not about QF it is simply about making the right play. If we woodenly play both checkers to our bar pt, following the oft missguided principle (esp vs backgames) of trying to clear pts in order, we are forced to bury checkers on the ace pt with 6's and may end up with a stack of dead checkers.

Clearly best is 12/6 13/8 which gives a nice extra spare on the 6 pt to handle possibly bad 5's and 3's once we start our bearoff. After this play if we roll a 6 we can clear the miserable bar pt and kill 6's (except 61). If we are unfortunate enough to roll a blotting 6, at least if hit, our opp is taking some risks in breaking a backgame pt, but certainly we don't want to be hit.

Suggestions to leave a blot here and dump a checker on the ace pt belong in a chamber of horrors since we have no desire to either be hit by outfield checkers nor to dump on the ace pt.

13/8 12/6
