1) I'd hit on the ace and then play 8/5. But I can see the logic of letting him have his ace point - blue has already started burying checkers on the ace, and maybe he should let white do it too. Still, I can't resist sending a second checker back against a four point board.
2) The "obvious" play is bar/24 13/11. The splitting plays are probably sound, but I'll make a point.
