I have no business with the Nordic Open and unfortunately, wonīt even be able to be there myself.... But if I may throw my 2 cents on this subject, I think itīs not a good idea:

The Nordic is the largest tournament in Europe and backgammon tournaments (especially with 200 Vikings) are meant to be competition but also (and more importantly) a social event. Turning the game of backgammon into chess, and a sport for nerds, computer- and bot-addicts, takes away a big part of the social aspect. Please remember that the beauty of backgammon (to some beauty, to others hell) lies in the fact that in the limited distance of a match, anyone can beat anyone regardless of skill and PR difference.
