In Response To: Two Tough and Tricky Checker Plays (Paul Weaver)

Position 1. Notice that White is stripped on all six of the points she owns. Consequently, she has some bad entries: 21 41 32 62. Although 22 anchors on the 21pt, the last 2 is a problem. If White rolls a 2, Blue will be very happy to own his 8pt.

Position 2. I will summarize what some of the bgonline posters have already said about this position.

Blue trails in the race by roughly 20 pips, so getting a fourth guy sent back is not such a big deal; the fourth checker back can helps Blue make one or two defensive anchors. Blue has the builder on the 11pt that can be used for counterattacking. There is a lot of duplication: White's 3s and 4s are strong point-making numbers. Finally, the slotting play unstacks the heavy 6pt.
