It feels right to strip the back point in prep for clearing, after which the cube could end the game and if not then you still have an easier bearin.
Clearing the bar point first kills 6s, but creates a new gap and makes it more difficult to bear in safely when White probably has a strong front position. It also loses any value of ending the game with a cube turn before all checkers are home.
