If "pro" means in favor of 17/10*, I'd change all the "cons" and "pro/cons" you listed to "pro." Even "worse anchor" -- the bar point, worse than White's solid 5 point, is sufficient for now, but won't be if White improves her board.

Dunno what emotion has to do with it. "... rates to get worse while White rates to marginally improve" -- if 8/6 8/3 now, Blue is likely to break the 17 point next roll and even if not, has the problem of bringing four checkers around against the 20 point anchor. White, behind in the race, has checkers on 4, 6 and 15 to play with. Most points that any of them will go to will be a slight improvement. 5 numbers make a fifth board point. White can also choose to break anchor, like with 5-1, etc.

Interesting, tough problem.
