It seems to me that blue lacks playability after 8/6 8/3, white has a lot of moving freedom in the 5 to 12 range.

Blue only has 5 pips to spare. And 12/36 seems a reasonable price for a "pay now" in such a situation.

So 17x10

By the way: it is called a massive holding game I guess.
