Playing the position out some after both plays, I see I overestimated the power of Blue's cube access and seriously overestimated the power of White's cube access after 17/10*. When things go well for Blue, White's anchor and 4-prime ensure many wins as Blue tries to come home. Gnubg 2-ply seems a little too reluctant on doubling by Blue, but even so, positions that seem to be doubles aren't, and even after Blue makes the three point, White often has a very easy take while on the bar. Worse for Blue is that when things go poorly White can double very aggressively because of his 4-prime and builders, his anchor, Blue's blots, and Blue's bar point "anchor" which seem to often give Blue enough reason to take White's double, and proceed to lose most of the time. White's 4-prime, outfield coverage vs. Blue blots and tempo is very strong. Even when Blue makes his 3 point, his five point board, in which White is anchored, is not nearly as strong as it may seem.
