Congrats to everyone who got this one right. I'm still not sure why it is correct though to have "two midpoints".

Perhaps the issue is that white will likely have to clear his midpoint relatively soon, and it won't come back to haunt blue as much as I'd thought it would.

Or perhaps the idea of having the 678 points has more merit than I'm attaching to it with white owning our 5pt.

Perhaps I should play this position out a bunch of times to get a feel for what the particular dynamics are here.
