I Wonder Why Pittsburgh Attendance Was Down

I was expecting a field of 64 in the Open as per previous recent years also. I started thinking about who was missing and the possible why and I came up with specifically:

  • Mary Hickey - health problems in the family
  • Chris Yep - recently had a child
  • Neil Kaz - work work work
  • David Rockwell - work work work
  • Player from the west coast, specifically Cali - pure speculation on my part but perhaps Ray receiving his ABT award and speech kept them away? A couple of them have a very strained relationship with Ray at best. It's also possible that they just didn't want to come for any number of other reasons.
  • Random players - Unhappy with the TD, Rob, over him announcing a tourney the same time as Madison may have taken place. (As Jeb had mentioned here)

That's all my knowledge and guesses. I was disappointed there weren't more people there too.
