Try not to fall down the creative blunder trap door!

You mean like, 21/18 6/3* 5/2 4/1?
The first question is whether we switch points with 6/3*(2). If we do, then I think the other two 3's are either 21/18(2) or 21/15. We're still leaving a bunch of shots so this doesn't look too compelling. White has a three-point board and we don't have much material for a blitz so 6/3*(2) often does little more than gain us a tempo. I think we have enough play against the rest of White's checkers that we aren't compelled to wreck our board.
If we pass up 6/3*(2) then what are the alternatives? There's the safe no-blot play 21/18(3) 7/4; there's the bold slotting 21/9; and there are the anchor-advancing plays 21/18(2) 21/15 and 21/15(2). 21/15(2) seems anti-thematic since we're behind in the race. 21/18(2) 21/15 seems to leave way too many shots. 21/18(3) 7/4 seems to be what the subject line is hinting, but is Michael trying to bluff us? It doesn't put as much pressure on White as 21/9 does. 21/9 is tempting because Magriel's criteria suggest that we can afford a somewhat bold play here. Those 20 shots do seem a bit loose, though. I'll wimp out with 21/18(3) 7/4.
