These guys would probably prefer to have a shorter dinner break than have to play an extra hour past midnight.

Count me not amongst these guys. I would much rather play after midnight than to rush my dinner break which basically forces me to eat at the hotel and cram food down my gullet. I don't think most Europeans would agree with you here either.

If a tournament is running behind schedule, let's give the players less time on the clock.

If the tournament was clocked they wouldn't be behind schedule to begin with. I don't like that proposed solution either. I don't like the idea of my matches being rushed in what was otherwise a non clocked tournament that got behind because of random slow donkey kong.
