What I did OTB and thoughts

I felt this was very close and would have taken if I was two pips closer in the race or if my 5 pt was covered with the same pip count. As it was, I had to think and consider the opp.

David's style is very backgame oriented. He slots lots in front of anchors, and really doesn't care if hit, and off course, if there's any doubt as to the correct play, he slots in the opening. Would he play the same style at GS if I take and lose ? (I wasn't sure, but I've seen him play rather wide open at -2-4) If he plays at all wide open at GS, then I should be better than 32% against him. I figured, probably a little better.

He will certainly play wide open at DMP, but will I be a favorite against him ? I figured maybe a bit.

Anyhow..I was unsure what the opponent factor would mean, but do think my checker play is a bit better than David's and that this position is a close pass. So I passed.

In the DMP game (2 away each is DMP) I was lucky enough to open with 44. David soon made my 3 pt and started leaving blots infront on my 20 pt anchor to try to block me in or lure me off. I hit one, he hit back and then I hit two more, and then made another inside point and then drilled him with a semi-blotzing 55. Soon I had a 5 pt board vs his 3 anchor with 3 checkers and 3 more on the roof. I carefully tried to positon checkers on the 4 and 5 pts rather than teh 6 pt, so 33 wouldn't screw me.

Sure enough with only 1 checker off, there was my sick 33 but I could handle it. Then 43 and I had to clear the 5 pt and then 53 blotted. He missed that shot (he'd have been maybe a 65% fav if he hit (not being ready to fully contain)) and my 22 then leaped everybody over his anchor.

Rollout will be posted tomorrow or next day .. neilkaz ..
