Same seed + different position = different dice rolls

[This update is for those who may be rooting around amid the old posts here at BGO.] David: I have started using the same seed as a matter of course for rolls with the same pip count.
As this thread from May 2010 explains, it is not possible using XG’s internal random number generator to duplicate the sequence of dice rolls used in two different positions. This is because the seed used for generating dice rolls is a combination of the user-supplied seed and a hash of the checker positions.
Nack: Actually, cross-pollination of rollout results is the one situation in which I DO advocate using the same seed... such as 41S-54R + 41S-63R, or 63S-11N + 43S-11N
Nack’s notion of cross-pollination will work in XG. Because the resulting checker positions are identical in sequences such as the ones Nack gives, the board hashes will also be the same. Thus using the same user-supplied seed in each position will generate the same sequence of dice rolls.
Nack himself notes this in a message from the thread cited above.
