Well this looks interesting. When the Bahamas millions took place in 2007 I was still too new in my opinion to the scene to be able to validate participating. It looks like that event ended up getting 128 in the main, with the help of 8 rebuys. It also appears that half the people qualified online though. I'm not sure of all the details and am not interested enough to do the research though I'm sure it's out there, probably even on gammonlife.

It states on the howtoenter link that certain online sites will offer qualifiers. I wonder what sites this will be and how many people will qualify through online play. (and how rampant the cheating for such a quali will be and how heavily monitored it will be)

I remembered Stephen Pearson's name though I don't think we've ever met. I could be wrong, I'm terrible with remembering one event meetings unless you're cute and redheaded, or blond, or maybe brunette ... anyway. I searched my email and found what it was. He had started the backgammon players social network or BPSN as it was referred to at the time. It looks like over the years at some point the site was closed down.

I'm interested to hear who the director will be. There is also no mention of clocks and I doubt that matches will be clocked. These will be some brutally long matches.

I also wonder if the tournament will be providing the backgammon equipment or if players will bring their own. Perhaps someone can tell me what they did for the Bahamas event.

For the Bahamas event the million dollars was listed as guaranteed. On the current gammonmillion link it states "The total prize pool of these events is in excess of $1.7million" I highly doubt this is guaranteed and likely the prize pool is based solely on the number of entrants but as always, I'd like clarification.

I'm sure I'll have many more questions, as will others, but this is a good start. Hope this event is a huge success. If it looks promising I might not wear ripped jeans. Bill Davis will be so happy.
