There is something very valuable to be learned from this position!

I wasn't going to respond to this post, but I was interested in the answer since I thought it was a close call between splitting and not. I looked at XG and the right play was not one I would have considered.

I would be very surprised if anyone can find the right play here and would love to hear their explanation. Sure, I could give reasons for it being right, but I never would not have thought them compelling enough to make it the best play, or even consider it being best.

I looked at the position with blue owning the cube, since all plays are passes with it in the center. It looks like white missed a huge cube on his last roll as well.
