I tricked myself with this one. I was the one who wanted to leave a blot on the midpoint.

When we clear the midpoint, I thought that XG might try bringing one checker home with awkward rolls such as 62. By leaving a blot on the midpoint, I reasoned, we would force XG to delay his bear in, something that would be valuable to us in this close race. But even when we clear the midpoint, there is no roll that will induce XG to leave a fly shot.

That means my play is a sucker play. It has no upside, but when XG rolls one of his jokers (11 or 21), it has a huge downside.
