Baffle Box Video

Bob, I haven't been using baffle boxes for over 40 years - I haven't even been playing that long! - but I have been using them long enough (over 15 years) to be very well acquainted with them. I have seen 10-12 different types of them in that time. In response to your points:
Cocked dice. If you use very thick chequers, dice ending up settling on them is very rare, box or no box. (Maybe this is your normal set up?) But with thinner chequers, particularly if there is room for only ten chequers across, a baffle box set up next to the outer boards will produce just a small fraction of this type of cocking, in my experience. But not zero, for sure. The box will also eliminate the disadvantage one player may otherwise have, with a clock, when rolling into the home board area.
Flying dice which are, of course, still 'cocked dice' really. With those boyish players who slam dice through the box, sometimes sending them flying everywhere, at least they're not generally flying at you! (Which they will be when rolling with the same degree of excitedness straight onto the board.) Phil's new box has a large opening which makes it easier for the slammers to hit the target; some boxes have a much smaller opening, but still require very little 'aim'.
We should pay attention to our opponents roll into the box. If we do, then it will be clear which way the dice went. Making players roll from a cup makes this kind of stunt harder to pull off.
