You need a plan for containing White's straggler. Blitzing probably isn't going to work here because you have only a three-point board and not too much ammunition. Even if White doesn't hit back immediately, she will have many opportunities to slip through your blockade. However, if you succeed in making your bar point, then White will have a much tougher time escaping. She'll need to roll a 1 and a 6. In the meantime, her somewhat stiff forward position may force her to expose more blots. 8/7 does give White a direct shot, but so does 8/2*. After 8/7, the most reasonable 5 is 22/17.
Basically you have to look ahead more than half a roll, and think about your game plan.
