So you're saying any time there's not 100% chance of A happening and there's only one other thing that can happen, B, that I'm lucky if A happens?
Why not?
Makes no sense.
I disagree. In fact, your view of luck is the one that does not make sense. Take that.
How many bullets does the chamber have to hold before you don't consider it 'lucky' not to get a bullet?
As many as it can hold? Although I suppose that as to whether it's both lucky and unlucky, neither, or only one of the two, may depend on your point of view. But anyway, this is a perfectly consistent way of answering whether something is lucky or unlucky. On the other hand, suppose you expect to win two out of every three games of gin you play with Chuck. You sit down, play one game, and win. You did significantly better than your expected result, so why wouldn't you consider yourself lucky? If you played 10 games and won all 10, would you be lucky then? What if you played 1,000,000 games and won 1,000,000 in a row, despite only being a 2-to-1 favorite? That's lucky in my book.
