In this particular position I make the 3pt and don't give a hoot if the rollout ends up being better by .00X. There are times it is correct to slot two points (or more) and keep flexible rather than make points but this isn't one of them especially playing a human.

The bot may know, as Daniel noted, that the midpoint shouldn't be broken with any non doublet but don't count on the same rational play from a human. Also, in this position I may want to run soon, possibly as soon as next turn. I'd rather have the board in tact than trying to do two things at once.
