Plugging your estimate of 35% into Neil's cute shortcut reveals when you win your ME will be 88*35 = 30.8%. When you lose your ME will be 71*65 = 46.1. Overall, when you take and win your chances are 30.8+46.1 = 76.9. When you pass you'll retain 75%.

IMO, even when things go suadesides for blue, his net gammon loss will be closer to 30% rather than 40%. The power of the 5pt here, is very persuasive!
