If this was the only factor, I doubt it would be that much of "a source of potential error". A very important factor is "threat versus threat". IMO, this is the biggest 'source of potential error'. For instance, and for argument sake lets say when thing go really bad for blue his net Gammon loss is 30%. When things just go bad his loss is 14%; thus his average net loss is around 22%. In this instance, the swing is huge and I honestly believe the main reason for errors in Gammon estimations in positions like these is a over/underestimation of threat versus threat. Who's got the greater threat, here? Who's more flexible? Who has more than one game plan etc? I'm not suggesting that blue comes out on top on each of these questions but it is important to note; especially when estimating your Gammons. You can have the keenest mind and are very sharp in accessing your TP's & GV's but its pretty much useless if your (not you) estimations are way off.
