Thorough and accurate explanation of the Nactation as usual, Mike. Thanks.
41S-22E-32
I offer two clarifications:
(1) Three of David's four Nactations are perfect, and the other one I'd categorize as "acceptable." 23/20 9/7 (which you typoed as 23/20 9/6 in your reply) is best nactated as capital B. Fortunately, David's inaccuracy of using lower-case "b" is inconsequential because (as you noted) there is only one member in the B family.
[A minor issue: I don't understand your comment about David including a member of the S or Z family in the B family -- I don't see that he did that. I may be missing your point.]
(2) Reminder: When a single checker makes the entire move, the higher number is played first when possible, a Nactation rule that occasionally comes into play. That is why one should think of 9/4 as 9/6/4 (and therefore a member of the A family) with the 3 played and then the 2 played, and NOT as 9/7/4 -- i.e., 9/4 is excluded from the O family. The value of this rule is an overall increase in the use of capital letters.
