Of course it is "correct" to play on in this position. However, achieving the full advertised equity requires perfect play for Black. Even an expert won't achieve that and 98% of players are not experts. White on the other hand will play perfectly until she enters and won't have any difficulty after that either unless she hits something. Play it and see how well you do. My point is that the cost of cashing this is on average very much less than the theoretical 0.121, perhaps 0.050 or even less and for non-experts is a good practical play. The point of my blog is to simplify backgammon for those who can't or won't spend hours every day thinking about it. Experts are welcome to pick it to pieces, but I am not writing for them. They can look after themselves!
