This simply isn't true. Although you're right that White won't make any mistakes until she enters, it's not at all true that the rest of the game will necessarily be easy for White. For example, let's consider the bad sequences for Black that lose his cash. He might lose his cash in theory but won't necessarily lose his cash in practice. Lots of players drop with relief when the opponent has been playing on, without considering whether they can now take.
The point of my blog is to simplify backgammon for those who can't or won't spend hours every day thinking about it.
I understand that, but it still seems to me that this particular point is bad advice for most intermediates, who aren't thinking enough about gammons and need to get into the habit of doing so.
For example, when they play against a stronger opponent, they will often have a gammon value that is higher than the bot's MET would indicate, and so playing for a gammon is probably even more right than what the bot says it is.
