1) My first instinct was to make the bar point here. White is on the roof, so she only has half a roll to work with, plus her board is weak, so no pressing need to clean up. But do I really want to make a point that I'll just have to clear soon? Making the nine instead neatly blocks the point six away from her stack. But again, it's a point I'll just have to clear.

I'm not sure what the right idea here is - make blocking points or just clean up and try to bear in and off. It's going to be hard to bust this backgame, so I'm inclined to go for the latter. 9/5 10/6 puts nice spares on the 5 & 6. So I'll play that without much confidence.

2) When in doubt, make the 5 point. QF says this might be an exception, but I'll make it anyway. 8/5 6/5

3) Position, race, threats - advantages in all three says ship it. White may have a take here, but I'm going to say pass. With the holding game possibilities, I'm going to say it's not too good. D/P
