White is XG Roller++
score: 3
pip: 715 point match pip: 78
score: 9
Blue is BGO ReadersXGID=-GC---B------A---A----aAd-:1:1:1:43:9:3:0:15:10 Blue to play 43 First, note that so long as we move the back checker with at least one die on this turn, we cannot be backgammoned.
Second, consider ways to save the gammon. After playing 7 pips this turn, we will still need 28 pips to bring all our checkers home. Were we to roll an 8 next time, then we would still not be able to beat the gammon unless we rolled 66 on the turn after that. So, is there a way we can best cater to 66? And what about 55? Moving out to the 16pt gives an efficient way to use at least three 5s: 16/6 and 17/12.
I’m going to try that.
