I see both of these as 'nexts' and obviously you don't so you should get to understand them well. In the first one playing safe is sick as we'll be totally stripped and our opponent will not hurt his position next turn. We have a play that pays now, leaves the minimum number of shots, cleans up easily, and clears the point we want to clear all the while duplicating twos. 13/8 13/7 is the standout play.
In the second position your gammons are teenie tiny. Any increase in gammons will be so small that it can not overcome a safe play that wins more. 6/2 5/1 for complete safety, take your win and move on to the next game.
