eXtreme Gammon Version: 2.03
The only tricky play in Game 1 is the last move. There, a 55 doublet forces a crash in the home board. Terao chose to play 7/2(3) 6/1. Because it moves checkers in the ratios Far:Down:Jump:Inside = 0:0:3:1, this play belongs in the underlined A (Attack) family. Moves with the ratios 0:0:1:3 belong in the same family.
The family only has two members. When you play 3 checkers inside, 6/1(3), there is only one way to jump over the bar: 7/2. And when you play just one checker inside, there is only one way to play three checkers jumping over the bar: 7/2(3).
To rank these plays, first note that no hits are involved. The decider, then, is the More Points Convention. At the top is 7/2 6/1(3). It is the play that avoids giving up a made point (because it switches).
- A (Attack) = 7/2 6/1(3)
- a (Attack) = 7/2(3) 6/1
Terao played 55a.
