1) Many gammons (where the cube at 2 is enough) and many losses (where the cube at 2 is a blessing). ND/T
2) First let's start from what I'm (almost) sure about:
a) we will be 20 pips ahead in the race;
b) the bar anchor must be kept, because of the race, of the opponent's anchor and of the opponent's prime;
c) some of those 4 back checkers must get out to see the light.
The quiet 23/13(2) leaves a bazillion shots and that's not good for the race, but killing a checker with 7/2 doesn't seem the best idea either.
23/18 23/13 seems anyway part of the play, I'm not sure about whether to continue with 18/13 or 6/1*. The 9 dancing numbers tell me "when in doubt, hit", so 23/18 23/13 6/1*3) Gammons are juicy but also unlikely, so I would play to win, by minimizing shots and maximizing checkers off. 5/off does both.
