A New Argument for Clocks

In Response To: A New Argument for Clocks (Steve Mellen)

Steve, my argument is not that we are all guilty of being unethical if we don't use a tremendous amount of time on every play; my argument is that we are faced with a dilemma of just how much time is required to be sure we are making the best play, and we then also have the dilemma of trying to decide if we are playing at a "reasonable" and courteous pace. You and I and others all have different values and interpretations of what is ethical and what is reasonable, and it is simple (and fair) to remove these ambiguities and level the playing field by adding a clock.

Once again you have proved that you are brilliant and able to make excellent arguments, but you have also proven, once again, that you are an attorney, and you are not judged on your ability to be fair or right, but rather on your ability to win your case. (If I am ever in need of an attorney to represent me in court, I certainly would want one like you who is focused on winning the argument!)
