I waited hoping more answers would come before I ruined the fun but other than you and Casper nobody has had a go on it.

Then 6/5 is the obvious play

I would have said just the opposite, that 1/off is the obvious play. The further back the opponent's point where he can cough up another blot(s) (assuming he still has a ton of men off) the more likely you are to rip and allow him to come in and break. Once you get to where we are here, the 3pt instead of the 2pt, it's right to rip.

This would probably make for an article so I'm not going to try to explain it all. Once you look at a set of positions like this you will understand the relevant factors much like the DK v. World doubles match and how aggressively you should take checkers off. Put some decent study into it and these positions because a lot more clear.
