Blue is Player 1XGID=-aa---E-C--AdD---c-d-b-AA-:0:0:1:54:0:0:3:0:10 42P-21S-51S-54 In a practice match against GnuBg, I played Z = Reverse split (24/20 13/8).
My thinking was to get a checker on the 20pt before it was too late. After 42P-54, splitting is the unambiguous best play. In this position, however, running is a reasonable option, and even if I am determined to start the 20pt, I can divert my opponent with a tempo hit, x = Hit and split (24/20 6/1*).
Ultimately, I rejected the tempo hit, because I am outboarded 2-to-1, and because my opponent has only two builders trained on the 20pt.
How do you approach this position?
