Many variations on this theme came up in the thread 42P-11N-53 — Obvious to some...
In them, holding the 8pt was usually correct.

Here, I would split, and play down. The split gives you a chance to counter the advanced anchor your opponent just made. Playing down unstacks a virgin midpoint.

But then again, I didn’t do too well in those other positions...
