After bringing in 2 checkers from the 8pt, we can play 1s and 2s to bear in, and any other number to bear off. The gaps on the 1pt and 2pt are not a problem. Of the doublets, any but 11 lets us rip a checker off next turn. If the game lasts that long, anytime we get two more turns, we can beat the gammon with any pair of throws, including back-to-back 21s.
