A Gammon orientated play is the correct idea, here. Blue has to factor in the potency of white's 4's & 5's. If white sucks at hitting a fly after 16/12 16/14 then, she'll stick on blue's 8/9pt with 5x 4x and force blue to roll well. If she does get lucky then blue will get some chance returns.
