They use the .rar archive format. I successfully installed them using 7-Zip.

My virus scanner (McAfee) had no qualms about it, and I've had no problem using it.

I've bought the full version, even though I'm not convinced it's more useful to me than gnubg with the full race database (although I am impressed that the full database is half the size of gnubg's).
