This is not a backgame. One mistake, often made, is to be visually mislead by the 2 more men back into believing one is in a protobackgame. We would make a mistake to push it towards a backgame leaving shots. Even if the 8 is left, missed and covered we would need to break the midpoint in a long battle in the open. Even if we have prime vs prime battles (the coveted 8 point's meaning), we would be at the wrong end with 2 more men back. The 8 must be lifted.

There is a reason in stepping up to his barpoint bar/22, 18, 5 for flexibility, but I would not dare attack the stacks, comparing with the comfortable bar/22, 21P, 5.
