Take. White has a number of blots and cannot do everything here; this means that when White makes offensive progress (covering bar, making the 3 for example), we usually have counterplay against the exposed blots on the 22 and 24. As things stand, board size are equal and we are ahead in the race, so an attack allowing us to cover, move up and out is a strong threat.
Move the checker from the 24 to the 22, and the above-mentioned source of counterplay is eliminated; making the position a drop.
