As the old magic 8-Ball used to say "Signs point to Yes", but I'll give it a whack anyway. I'll assume Crawford game, since I don't know how to get to 4-0 to 5 without it being the Crawford Game.

AtS, gammons for blue don't count at all, and gammons for White hardly matter. So it's alot like DMP. Attacking at DMP is usually counter indicated since the big bonus of the attack is the increased gammons. My druthers is to extend the prime, but I can't do that with this roll. I don't want to abandon the prime, but I'd like to cover the blot. But I can't simultaneously do both.

So I'll try an attack - with 13 checkers in the zone it has a good chance of succeeding and being behind by 23 pips in a game where gammons are basically irrelevant what have I got to lose. Seems the best attacking play is either 7/4 7/1* 11/8 (make the four point, hit loose on the ace, bring the straggler on the 11 into range) or 7/4 7/1* 6/3* (hitting two).

Hitting two is always worth serious consideration, but given the strength of white's board I'm going to limit myself to one (and limit the return shots to 11).

7/4 7/1* 11/8

So, how big a whopper is this?
