64P-43

Is my rationale for D close to the mark?

Splitting against the made 2 point is playing into white's game plan; Blitz.

D sets me up strategically to Prime BUT also delays my creating an advanced anchor. Whites 8 point is stripped so I likely have a couple of rolls before I am stuck on the 1 point and therefore have time to build a Priming point.

Yes, you have the right idea.

After the opponent makes the 2pt, some people rush forward with the split in the hopes of making an advanced anchor and thereby causing the opponent's 2pt checkers to be more out of play. The problem is that until you actually have the anchor, those 2pt checkers are all the more in play because they can make you pay for being on the roof, perhaps for more than one roll.

The higher Opp's inside point, the more you are inclined to split because of the threat of being primed. When Opp makes the 2pt, just laugh at it and develop your offense. There's plenty of room to split later.
